Brian Pham's Weird Blog

This semester has actually gone by real quick. This class especially progressed quicker than I thought. Meeting up once a week was actually fun since I enjoyed the class and how weird Professor Hamon is. He made the atmosphere nice and non toxic as well as increased our skills as writers. Professor Hamon came off as intimidating at the beginning of the year and made this class seem like hell with the work load he assigned us. He definitely lived by his word when he said this class is a lot of work but the work pays off. As I type this and look at my grades in D2L I can still remember his most famous quote from the beginning of the year, as Professor Hamon would state "This class isn't hard, if you do the work I will cheat for you and you will get the grade you want." I remember getting a 2 on my document 2 and think who does this man think he is giving me a 2 when I worked hard on that document but, little did I know he did that so we would seek help and learn from my m...

This class had a textbook that I completely forgot about! The textbook just didn't have the same vibe as those other boring textbooks. The book Writing Spaces Readings On Writings  was outdated but, it was more relate-able than most textbooks as well as giving plenty of information. The online version of the book was easily access-able  as it was their on any of our devices plus you could download it. The price for the book was the best you could ask for it's cost was FREE! The authors and their work were very informational as well as clear for analyzing their work.  The documents were great at grabbing the readers attention as well as showing us common writer mistakes and how to fix them. The documents we read in class have definitely helped me become a better writer as well as helped me enjoy writing.

Blogging to me personally helped me with my writing as well as helping me get out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed the interaction with other classmates as they too had great input to help point out my mistakes. My writing has increased tremendously as classmates helped me in my blogs and documents and I hope they continue to help each other in the future.

This semester has changed me as a writer. My eyes have been opened and my writing has been improved by a method I totally was against. Who would've thought that peer review would actually help my writing and documents change for the better. My peers were able to scope out the simple mistakes and give constructive criticism that would help me with my documents as well as help deduce the points that Prof. Hamon would mark off.

Reading my revised post:1 you can see that I have confidence in what I am writing compared to the original post. I quote, "I have fun hanging out with the people I care most about while making the physical and mental gains needed for my future debut as Dr. Pham the Physical Therapist" as I know what I actually want to do as my future career compared to post one where I was still clueless of what I wanted to do. Reading my non-revised post one it had an awkward tone when reading it compared to the revised one.

My online image and what it says about me is that, I'm just an everyday ordinary person that enjoys my hobbies. I have fun hanging out with the people I care most about while making the physical and mental gains needed for my future debut as Dr. Pham the Physical Therapist. Future employers can do their background research into me and what they'll find is an extrovert that will work with every patient who needs a modern day hero!

Peer review is has multiple aspects that are good and bad. You may have some classmates that can point out simple mistakes in your writing that you blindly skip over. This tends to happen a lot to me but thank goodness I messed up in front of my peers instead of my professor as points won't be deducted from my paper. On the bad side of things our peers don't have credentials backing them up like our professors do with their degrees so, sometimes people just ignore what peer review you tell them and don't bother fixing their own mistakes.

This semester I was introduced to a new genre of music. The new genre is Korean Pop or K-Pop for short. It's interesting since it is foreign music and, I love foreign music as it adds more spice to my playlist after being so stale of just English music and Spanish music. The music is approachable as it is easy to transition into. K-pop music videos have very elaborate choreography and luckily for me, I have discovered a K-Pop dance team this semester and got very interested that I'm practicing for next fall to tryout and hopefully will make it! Moral of the story break out of that shell and explore new things as they could liven you up.
